A fantastic way to catch your customer attention at trade-shows, conferences and exhibitions is by using Pull up banners. They are a cost effective and conveniently portable marketing tool which can be reused and they usually pay for themselves with one or two sales made. This type of banner is also referred to by different people as retractable banners or roll up banners or banner stand, no matter what you call them there are a few things to consider before sending your artwork to be printed as a pull up or pop up banner. In this article we will look at the following factor which affect the effectiveness of your pull up banner: Shape, Style,
Subject matter, Composition, Colour, Resolution and Size.
Pull up banners are most commonly tall and thin so keep this long rectangular shape in mind when designing your artwork and choosing images. Designs and images which harmonize with this shape will create more appealing and eye-catching roll up banner. At Crown Print we have found the most useful size to be 2000 x 850mm.
The style of your banner is strongly influenced by your business branding but the style should complement the branding by using at least one image of a person (only including images of an object/building product will feel cold and impersonal)
The subject matter of your marketing material will dictate the images that will be relevant on your banner. These images will support and complement the text content of the banner. Keep in mind that people like seeing images of other people and if you can include the photo of a person interacting with your product that will make a more appealing and effective banner.
Pull up banners will often be free-standing on the floor and the focal point of the banner needs above the halfway mark to keep it at around the eye-level of people walking past. Also consider the placement of the banner at the conference or exhibition so that it is not obstructed by objects such as tables, chairs etc.
Colour is a powerful influencer which can be effectively used in a banner by giving a little thought to the setting that the banner will appear in. Will it be shown at a busy trade show with many competing stands? Then use strong vibrant colours but try keep to the colour theme of your business branding.
Because of the size of banner the resolution of the images that you choose of outmost importance for best results. This is nothing worse than seeing a pixelated image on your banner. At Crown print we look out for these problems before doing the final print and will contact you if higher resolution images are required. But as a guideline a DPI of 150+ is preferable.
